3 Weeks!

At 3 weeks old, Simon has slowly been increasing the amount of time he stays awake, up to an hour at a time, 2-3 times a day. He's a very content baby, and typically only cries if he is hungry, or we are attempting to change/dress him. Contrary to what the "experts" say, he does in fact smile. Not often, but it has happened. On 2 or 3 occasions now he has looked directly at either myself or Grammy and let a big Ol' grin out. He's also started lifting his head more each day, although the first time he did it he was only 2 days old.

He's a champ about taking his twice daily medication, and is slowly getting rid of the jaundice leftovers. The Drs say it will be another few weeks before he is completely rid of all his yellow colour. Mom is definitely tired of looking at a yellow baby, and has been lax abut the picture taking because of it.

We've had weekly weight/growth checks to monitor his progress for any signs of slowing down - if his growth rates slows we will need to start injecting him with growth hormone. So far, he is slightly ahead of the curve, and is at about 7 lbs 8oz already.

Despite the dark looking complexion in this picture, his eyes are
actually a dark grey/blue. I'm hoping they stay blue.
As the jaundice disapears, so will the darkness of his skin.

Simon sends every meal in his bouncy chair on the dinning room
table, as he inevitably is awake. He's very happy to just hang out
with us while we eat.
