Slowly but surely...

So our "children" have been learning to live together since Saturday. We were both pretty apprehensive about the process, given that cats are generally very territorial, and take time to learn how to get along. For those that may not remember, Kelly is Timmy's mom, and Doobie is Timmy's brother from the same litter. We weren't counting on it being a happy family reunion though! The weekend consisted of very limited interaction between the two sets of cats - letting them get used to each other's scents before any extended face to face is the recommendation.

This is how things have progressed.

Timmy and Dobbie have neither hissed nor growled at anyone. A couple of sniffs and they were on their way. Everyone kept a healthy distance from one another the first few introductions.

Kelly and Abbe are another story. Abe is being his usual grumpy self, and continues to growl and hiss at everyone, including Timmy. He's even turning down food! Kelly wasn't too sure about Timmy at first, but they have managed to resolve their issues rather well, and are doing fine.

We always know when Abe and Kelly cross paths, as the growling can't be missed - however, they seem to just warn each other to back off and keep their distance. So far nothing has progressed beyond the verbal warnings. Phew.

Here are a few pics of the progress

Sunday night: Timmy decides to crawl into Kelly's kennel and power nap like a kitten. It must smell like mom!

Monday afternoon - the boys are slowly warming up to each other, and a nap in proximity is allowed by both!

Wednesday Morning: Yo, bro, where'd that fly go?

What a process! I'm glad it seems to be working, tell Abe that I said to just get over himself. :)
