Proud to be Canadian

It's not often that the world turns it's attention to Canada. We tend to keep to ourselves, and are relatively small players on the world stage. So, like all countries, hosting the Olympics is a moment to take pride, and show the world who those shivering people on the top of North America are ;)

Some facts that may not be advertised outside our borders: Canada has hosted the Olympics 2 times before Vancouver. Montreal hosted summer games in 1976, and winter games were held in Calgary, Alberta in 1988. We didn't win gold on either occasion :(

Last night that all changed, with a Gold Medal in Freestyle Skiing-Men's Moguls, and of course the media has been capitalizing on the resulting pride and excitement. Canadians are now convinced this is going to be our best showing ever, and we all know the power of collective faith :D

There are certain sports we hold dear to our hearts during the Olympics, and that many follow regularly in non Olympic times. Figure skating, Curling, and of course Hockey. It is our Football after all! For most Canadians, Hockey is more than religion, it defines who we are, so we MUST win the game.

Which brings me to the whole point of this post: Normally, I wouldn't want to endorse advertising, but this commercial captures exactly the vibe, spirit, and mania taking over this country. We know we own Hockey, now we just have to show the world =p
